Start with the room rather than the beam. Ceiling height and room proportion narrow the field faster than anything else, because they determine what depth of profile will read correctly from where people actually sit or stand. From there it is a question of how much character you want the ceiling to carry: a clean silhouette recedes into the architecture, while a pronounced texture makes the ceiling part of the room's subject matter. Yes. The inquiry form accepts image and PDF uploads, so photographs of the room, plans, elevations and inspiration images can all be attached to your inquiry. The profile is the beam's shape in cross-section — the silhouette you would see if you cut through it. A box profile reads as a solid rectangle; a flanged or open-web profile introduces shadow and void. The texture is what happens on the surface of that shape: how smooth or worked it is, and how it catches light.
